Villa 120  - celebration venue - Rosecliff flower show also a grand Wedding Reception venue

                                                       Backdrop!!
                                                   Carnival!

Tutti Fruitti

Another beautiful day in Newport and we were off to see the Rosecliff garden show - this years theme was Salsa and the photos show the creativity - it really was fabulous and to be displayed at Rosecliff with its magnificant backdrop was spectacular.

It was a great pleasure to meet Anne Mimi Sammis who was recently commission by the Archbishop of Canterbury for the Queens Jubilee!

Ms Sammis' sculptures reveal a celebration of life.  The influence of Rodin and Degas can be seen in the solidity and delicacy of her  work, yet her sense of balance and movement is unique.  Actually breathtaking!

Rehearsal Supper, Bridal Venue, Bed and Breakfast, Hotel, Lodging, Newport / Middletown Rhode Island, Villa 120

VILLA 120 - REHEARSAL SUPPER/BRIDAL DESTINATION

The Gillette family arrived on Thursday evening for the marriage of their beautiful daughter Kate to Arthur at Regatta Place on Saturday June 23rd 2012 in Newport.  The rehearsal supper took place at Villa 120, the forecast was to hit 100C - hot and steamy followed by a major storm and lightning so we had plan A and B organized for their rehearsal supper of 56 guests!!  As we set up there seemed no chance of a storm so we set up outside and thankfully we made the right choice - for it was a beautiful evening with a breeze!

Pranzi catering did a grand job with the food and set-up and the guests relaxed both on the deck and playing croquet on the lawn - a beautiful union of family and friends in a relaxed atmosphere.

The Wedding morning started at 8.30 a.m. sharp with eggs benedict and blueberry french toast the 'boys" were back to the lawn playing croquet or jogging along the ocean.

The girls however, took to the Bridal parlor for hair and make-up!  Jennie Kay one of the BEST hairdressers on the island arrived at 9.30 a.m. and work began!

The boys leaving for Regatta place.

Take a leisurely walk on First Beach in Middletown, located in the middle… (PAUL E. KANDARIAN FOR THE…)
This is a town that lives up to its name, located in the middle of Aquidneck Island between Portsmouth and Newport. There is a cluttered retail presence along West Main Road, but off the main drags, this little town is a gem bounded by water on three sides and with plenty to occupy visitors of all ages. There are plenty of places to stay, eat, and shop, and recreational opportunities abound, on land, sea, and even in the sky above.
STAY
There are chain hotels here, but no shortage of quaint alternatives to explore. Case in point: bucolic Aunt Polly’s Bed and Breakfast (349 Valley Road, 401-847-2160, www.pollysbnb.com, rates from $100), a home surrounded by weeping willows, with babbling brook and flowering gardens. Though just a mile from busy Newport center, Villa 120 (120 Miantonomi Ave., 401-619-5993, www.villaonetwenty.com, rates from $320) boasts a relaxing 1½ acres of private grounds enveloping a historic 9,000-square-foot restored mansion. The eight-room Sea Breeze Inn (147 Aquidneck Ave., 401-849-1211, www
.theseabreezeinn.com, rates from $130.50) features a full breakfast and a great location, within walking distance of the beach and Newport’s Cliff Walk.

DINE
Start the day at the Atlantic Grille (91 Aquidneck Ave., 401-849-4440, www.atlanticgrille
.com, breakfast from $4.50). On weekends, the Grille offers “Bennies” specials — eggs Benedict variations such as the Bellevue Benny: sirloin steak, with mushrooms and onions and béarnaise sauce on an English muffin for $13. Jonesing for seafood? Flo’s Clam Shack (4 Wave Ave., 401-847-8141, www.facebook.com/pages/Flos-Clam-Shack/245316
810509, platters from $10.95) is a local fave with indoor-outdoor seating near First Beach and famous for its fried food — the fisherman’s platter is immense – and quirky items like a bottle of Moet & Chandon champagne and two hot dogs for $50. Have food allergies? Grab a healthy lunch at Eva Ruth’s Specialty Bakery (796 Aquidneck Ave., Unit D, 401-619-1924, www.evaruths.com, sandwiches $7), with food that is gluten-, wheat-, and nut-free, including breads, muffins, quiches, cookies, pies, and pastas. You can’t eat any closer to the water than at Atlantic Beach Club (55 Purgatory Road, 401-847-2750, www.atlanticbeachclub.com, dinner from $18.95), known for its picturesque location, sunny patio dining, Sunday brunch, and live music Friday and Saturday afternoons. Cap off the day with a cone at Frosty Freez (496 East Main Road, 401-846-1697, www.frosty
freez.com), serving Garelick Farms super-premium, 10-percent butterfat, soft-serve mix, hard ice cream, and treats using Rhode Island’s famous Autocrat coffee syrup.

London vs Newport, Bridal Wedding Venue, Rehearsal Supper, Bed and Breakfast, Hotel, Lodging, Newport / Middletown Rhode Island, Villa 120

People often ask me "do you miss London?"   I miss my dear friends who have supported me so very much and as many of you girls reading this will know 'girlfriends are forever' and frankly without mine I really don't know how I would have made it through life!  But, do I miss London - no life here in Newport is so wonderful - lots to do and frankly I could write constantly as life is fun, colorful and very interesting and rewarding - no two days are the same.

Having made some great friends here locally and often you meet a special bride in my profession who touches your heart and you just know that you will stay in touch - such as the beautiful Jessica who is now moving to Florida - such a nice spot in the winter time!!!

Here in Newport I was taking my daughter to a friends in Jamestown (as one local calls it Gods country!) at the weekend on our way back we got lost - thank goodness!  As were driving we saw loads of parked cars and being inquisitive I had to stop and see what was going on - well a local had opened their lawns up to the public and crowds were sitting on their lawn which rolled down to the water - well prepared locals with picnic baskets and liquor - sitting on the grass observing the air show.  As the Blue Angels showed us their brilliant moves we soaked up the sun and felt blessed to be sitting in Gods country overlooking the Newport Bridge and all who sailed beneath her - how could I miss London?   Getting married at Villa 120 is not just a destination wedding for the Bride & Groom but it is a wonderful treat for their guests and the fortunate guests who can take time off to see all the sights will not be disappointed with all that Newport has to offer!

Rhode Island Wedding Group, Rehearsal Dinners, Wedding and Bridal Venue, Bed and Breakfast, Hotel, Lodging, Newport / Middletown Rhode Island, Villa 120

Today I attended a meeting at the Rhode Island Wedding Group, where I met many lovely sponsors for bridal parties and weddings. Some of these esteemed sponsors and organizations included, Newport Cakes to PhotoBooth/Flipbook City, to RockStar limousine service. All of these organizations and sponsors come from the New England area, which is perfect to use for our venue here at Villa 120. All of these sponsors and organizations give a unique and creative twist to make your wedding one of a kind, and something to truly remember!

Jessica & Juan's Wedding, Rehearsal Dinners, Wedding and Bridal Venue, Bed and Breakfast, Hotel, Lodging, Newport / Middletown Rhode Island, Villa 120

Today at Villa 120, a beautiful wedding between Jessica & Juan took place.

As the bride descended the staircase with her maid-of-honor in tow, the excitement was palpable. Both looking beautiful, they posed for a few pictures before heading outside.

Right out on the lawn, nestled between two pillars topped with flowers, the bride and groom said their vows in front of their intimate wedding party. With their intimate party looking on, their magical moment was captured in a special ceremony.

The flower arrangements were spectacular, a mix of pink, purple and white that could be found all through the wedding party. Thankfully the weather provided a beautiful backdrop to the reception dinner.

Dancing and dinner ensued, with speeches from the Best Man and Maid of Honor. One of the most exciting parts, cutting the cake, proved a testament to the couples happiness.

Memories forever, as each guest signed a photo from the night of their first meeting.

Sweetberry Farm, Rehearsal Dinners, Wedding and Bridal Venue, Bed and Breakfast, Hotel, Lodging, Newport / Middletown Rhode Island, Villa 120

Sweetberry Farm is a great location for your country-style wedding, rehearsal supper or party. Recently refurbished to a very high standard, I've had the opportunity of attending a couple of events: one for Newport Life magazine and the other for Sandpipers.

Sweetberry Farm is located approximately 10 minutes from Villa 120 and is easily accessible on a quiet road, avoiding all the downtown Newport traffic. Brides staying at Villa 120 or brides with a larger wedding would find this a perfect location.

On the other hand, a conference taking place at Villa 120 could enjoy many items off of Sweetberry Farm's lunch menu. Aside from lunch, they have excellent, locally baked goods.

No matter the reason that you would be staying at Villa 120, a trip to Sweetberry Farms is a must-visit place in Newport, providing great food and a relaxing atmosphere.

Work can be fun too! You always have to laugh.
