Few things can pull residents and guests off of a balmy late afternoon beach like a polo match at the Newport International Polo Series.  If you can tailgate at the event adjacent to the field consider yourself lucky.  The tailgate spots sell out months in advance, evidence of the increasing popularity of this weekly event.  No matter if you are in stands or milling about enjoying the scene, attending at least one match per season is a near requirement for spending any time on Aquidneck Island during the summer months.  How lucky we are to have such a beautiful game so accessible!

The Newport Polo Club is the successor of the historic Westchester Polo Club, founded in Newport in 1876. Today’s club is based in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, with public exhibition playing fields at historic Glen Farm, as well as private fields & outdoor arena in Portsmouth. Newport Polo’s Office and Lessons are private, and not located at Glen Farm; visitors are received by appointment only
